Our Veterinary Team in Bremerton, WA
The veterinarians and staff at our clinic are ready to provide your pet with cutting-edge and high-quality care at our hospital.
Dr. Stacey Rutledge
Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Stacey Rutledge was born and raised right here in the South Sound! She received her undergraduate degree at Central Washington University and obtained her veterinary degree in 2014 at Washington State University (GO COUGS!). Dr. Rutledge always had a lifelong dream of being a veterinarian and someday owning her own vet clinic. She became the proud owner of Bayview in April 2020 (right at the start of this crazy pandemic) and has loved every minute of it.
She has a wonderful husband named Sam and two adorable children, Clarity (4-years-old) and Cooper (2-years-old), as well as a Yellow Labrador named Charlee, a spunky little King Charles Cavalier named Daizee Mae, and some chickens too. They love to camp, fish, quad, hike, and get outside and enjoy our beautiful state in their free time!
Dr. Claire Hoffman
Veterinarian
Dr. Claire Hoffman received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 2012 (Go Green!) and immediately moved back to her beloved Pacific Northwest after graduation. She worked in Bellevue and Seattle before returning to her hometown of Bremerton. Dr. Hoffman was a volunteer at Bayview Vet Hospital when she was in high school. Now she feels right at home coming back as a veterinarian. Her professional interests include all types of surgery, metabolic disease management, and end-of-life care. Personal interests include gardening, baking, raising chickens, and hiking.
Claire and her husband have two young children, and the furry members of the Hoffman clan include a hound mix named SJ and a vocal brown tabby named Herman.
Dr. Lea Disston
Veterinarian
Dr. Lea Disston grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on a large horse farm always surrounded by a menagerie of animals. She attended Ross University on St. Kitts for her veterinary degree and found herself back in Philadelphia to complete her clinical year of veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Disston graduated veterinary school in 2008 and found herself moving to New Orleans, Louisiana, where her husband attended law school at Tulane University School of Law. It was while living in New Orleans that Dr. Disston began her veterinary career in small animal medicine. In 2011, Dr. Disston and her husband moved from New Orleans to Bainbridge Island, where they still live with their 9-year-old daughter, their 6-year-old son, two dogs, and two chickens. Dr. Disston has been a veterinarian at Bayview Veterinary Hospital since 2012.
When she is not caring for your pets, Dr. Disston enjoys spending time outside with her family and friends. She enjoys hiking, mountain biking, and paddleboarding.
Dr. Barbara Muhlbacher
Veterinarian
Dr. Muhlbacher grew up in Switzerland and moved to the United States after finishing high school. She graduated from Colorado State University in 2001 with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she practiced in Lacey, Washington, for a few years before moving to the “other” Washington (DC). After 14 years, Dr. Muhlbacher is very happy to finally be back in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her husband and rescue mutt. She enjoys many outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, biking, and skiing in her spare time. Dr. Muhlbacher also loves to travel and experience new cultures.
Dr. Emily Barron
Veterinarian
Dr. Emily Barron is our newest doctor to join the team at Bayview Veterinary Hospital. Although she is a Rhode Island native, she’s excited to begin her career in the Pacific Northwest. She graduated from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies, and completed her clinical year at Washington State University. Dr. Barron feels fortunate that her veterinary education has presented many opportunities to see the world including Grenada, South Africa, and now Washington state. Her veterinary interests are preventative medicine and surgery, and One Health. Dr. Barron considers herself a lifelong learner, and is passionate about balancing her personal wellness and professional interests so she can give your pet the very best care.
When she’s not caring for your pet, Dr. Barron enjoys long walks in nature, baking, playing tennis and ultimate frisbee. She loves attending live music and sporting events, and cheering on her favorite sports team, the Boston Celtics. She is excited to meet you and your pets, and explore the PNW!
